Stuffed Shells

Stuffed Shells is one of my family’s favorite meals. It is also requested quite frequently when we have family and friends over for dinner.

And I am totally okay with that because it is so easy to make!

You can use your favorite spaghetti sauce. I use my husband’s family recipe. It’s kind of a family secret, and he won’t let me share it with all of you. He makes a huge pot of sauce about once a month and then we freeze it smaller container to use all month.

This is also a great meal to make ahead of time and freeze. I like to make a few pans of Stuffed Shells, stick them in the freezer for days that I work late. I just pull them out the day before and it defrosts in the refrigerator. I have on occasion forgotten to take it out of the freezer, and just put it in the oven frozen. And it still turns out amazing! Just add an extra 15 minutes of cooking time.

1 Box Jumbo Shells
32 oz Ricotta Cheese
2 eggs
1 C Chopped Spinach
1/2 C Parmesan Cheese
1 C Mozzarella Cheese
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Basil
2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Fresh Parsley
Your Favorite Spaghetti Sauce

1. Boil shells until slightly firm, rinse in cold water.

2. Mix together: Ricotta cheese, eggs, spinach (squeeze out excess water), parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, Oregano, Basil, Garlic Powder and Parsley.

3. Put a layer of sauce on the bottom of your pan (9×13).

4. Spoon in cheese mixture into each shell. Fill your pan up with stuffed shells.

5. Put another layer of sauce over shells.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 min or until cooked through. Optional: Put a layer of Mozzarella cheese on top and melt in the oven.

By now your mouth might be watering, and you are probably wondering if you have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

Print this recipe card and get to cooking!
