Sweet Sixteen Party

sweet sixteen

My oldest daughter turned 16 this year. Her birthday was in late May just before we moved. We were actually packing over her birthday weekend. 😦 We are having a Sweet Sixteen Party for her tomorrow. I left her in charge of the invitations… 130 invites later… I’m kind-of freaking out. Actually, There have been only about 40 people that said yes, but tons didn’t replay. I think that we will have 50-60 friends and family when it’s all over.

So we are having an open house. Here is the menu:

Shish Kabobs (Chicken, Pork, Potatoes, Onions, Green Peppers, Red Peppers, Mushrooms, Tomatoes and Pineapple)

Cilantro Lime Rice

Corn on the Cob

Pita Bread

Finger Jello

Mango Salsa

Veggies and Dip

Ice Tea

Pineapple, Mint Water

I am using my mother-in-law’s marinade for the meat and veggies. Delish!! It smelled so good when I was making it.shish recipe2

Garlic, fresh oregano, orange juice, brown sugar. Prepped everything today listening to music. Pretty low key day. The craziness will start tomorrow.

There is no theme really. I got a roll of red and white checkered table clothes.  We will be serving drinks in in mason jars. We have made tags and red rope for the mason jars. We will have baskets, metal bowls and pots for decorations.

We are setting up a volleyball court, bags, and basket ball. We are having a photo booth with tons of cool props. In the basement we will have Just Dance on the WII and board games. Bonfire in the evening and possible dancing.

Should be a fun time. I’ll take some pictures and share next week.

Be Blessed!
